Abdulmateen is a member of the Chou lab and a masters student in the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. His research interests include DNA Nanotechnology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Engineering, and Synthetic Biology.
Before joining IBBME in September 2019, Abdulmateen completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Abdulmateen also completed a 4th year independent research project focused on Wnt Signaling in Stem Cell Biology under the supervision of Dr. Bradley Doble in the Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute (SCC-RI).
When he’s not doing science, Abdulmateen enjoys powerlifting, exploring the latest technology, and playing sports (Basketball, Football, Soccer).
