Caroline is a direct-entry PhD student at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto, co-supervised by Dr. Leo Chou and Dr. Kim Tsoi, a sarcoma specialist and surgeon-investigator at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her research interests include disease modelling, cancer therapeutics, and biomaterials.

Caroline holds an HBSc from the University of Toronto, where she studied Health & Disease, Psychology, and Immunology. Prior to beginning her graduate studies, she worked under Dr. John Sled at SickKids, where she investigated cerebral hypoxia in a mouse model of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She subsequently completed her undergraduate thesis under Dr. Craig Simmons. Her thesis characterized genomic and transcriptomic changes in Natriuretic Peptide Receptor 2-deficient (Npr2+/-) mice, with a focus on the role of hemodynamics in bicuspid aortic valve-associated aortic dilatation.

Outside of the lab, Caroline enjoys reading, crocheting, painting, and experimenting with recipes she finds on social media.
